Jamie McCoppin

RDT, LCAT

I love watching my clients light up from the inside out when they reconnect with their personal power, creativity, and capacity for connection.

I believe therapy doesn’t always have to look like sitting in a chair and talking about what’s wrong. Sometimes we need to move, imagine, play, experiment, laugh, try on a different perspective, or simply experience something in a new way. As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Registered Drama Therapist, I bring creativity, curiosity, warmth, and playfulness into the therapeutic process.

I work with individuals and couples who want to understand themselves more deeply, create meaningful change, and have more satisfying relationships. My approach is experiential, relational, and collaborative. Drawing from Drama Therapy and other creative and body-based approaches, I may invite you to explore emotions, patterns, relationships, and life transitions in ways that go beyond simply talking about them. My goal is to create a space where you can feel seen and supported while also having room to discover something new about yourself.

With couples, I particularly enjoy helping partners who feel stuck in familiar cycles of conflict, disconnection, frustration, or misunderstanding. I am trained in the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy through the Couples Institute with Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson. This approach integrates attachment, differentiation, and neuroscience to help couples understand where they are getting stuck in their relationship development and, importantly, what skills they can practice to move forward. I love helping couples turn those “Here we go again” moments into opportunities for greater understanding, connection, and growth.

Premarital “Keys” Program™

I am also a Certified PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator and Trainer and offer The Premarital “Keys” Program through Key2Connection. I especially enjoy helping couples be intentional about the relationship they are creating—not just preparing for a wedding, but preparing for a life together. PREPARE/ENRICH provides a structured way for couples to explore important areas of their relationship, while therapy gives us space to slow down, talk openly, and strengthen the skills that support a healthy partnership.

  • 1 session: $250 (75 minutes)

  • 8 sessions: $1,200 (60 minutes each)

My background in Drama Therapy also gives me a particular appreciation for the power of play. I bring creative and playful experiences into relationship work to help couples reconnect, experiment with new ways of relating, and make room for more joy, curiosity, and aliveness in their relationship. Sometimes a couple needs another conversation; sometimes they need a completely different way to experience each other.

I became a Registered Drama Therapist in 2015, and my career has taken me into a wonderfully eclectic mix of settings, including hospitals, trauma treatment, schools, memory care, dialysis, and community programs. I have worked with people across many stages of life, and even spent part of my career as a medical clown. All of these experiences have reinforced something I continue to believe: creativity, humor, play, and authentic human connection can be powerful pathways for healing and growth.

I hold an MA in Theatre/Drama Therapy from Kansas State University and completed postgraduate training in Drama Therapy at New York University and in Developmental Transformations (DvT) at the New York DvT Institute. I have also completed specialized training in Trauma Centered Psychotherapy, Sociodrama, Critical Interaction Therapy with Couples, and the Counting Method.

Whether you’re navigating a relationship challenge, a life transition, old patterns that no longer serve you, or simply feel ready for something more, therapy can be a place to pause, get curious, and experiment with new ways of being.

Sometimes we need a safe place to rehearse before we’re ready to take the next step onto the stage of our lives.

Jamie McCoppin
“Therapy is a commitment to oneself to set aside focused time on feelings, thoughts and experiences that need processing. It is a place to heal and grow if one is open to it. It can be a reparative experience to relate to another human who shows curiosity about your experience.”
